Can we Install NPM 12.1 Additional Polling Engine on Windows 2008 R2 only.

We have Main Polling Engine installed on 2008 R2 SP1 which I can is supported as per the system requirements document of Solarwinds but need to know whether we can install its Additional Polling Engine on Windows 2008 R2 or not?

We are actually doing the Upgrade and there is a time where we will be holding our activity for 1 day on 12.1 version and then next day we will be upgrading the servers to 2016 but in between we want our system to be Up and Running on Windows 2008 R2.

Please help.

SP1 is not absolutely required, but only what has been tested and is supported. That's not to say that if you are running 2008 R2 without SP1 it won't work.

12.1 does support Windows 2008, so you can install a new Additional Polling Engine for NPM 12.1 also on Server 2008.

Thanks, we have Windows 2008 R2 with out SP1, while I was referring the system requirements I found 2008 SP1 is mentioned thats why I got little confused.

Could you please check and confirm that as well.

Though Main Polling Engine is on 2008 R2 SP1 but APE's will be on 2008 R2 only without SP1
