Silver Peak alerts - tunnel down alerts

NPM monitors our Silver Peak Edge devices, but only the interfaces. We are looking for a method to create an alert when a tunnel does down. I'm thinking this would need to be a custom poller. Has anyone done this? Have any insight into how we might do it?

Did you ever find an answer to this? We tried many different things but none really do it well.

I don't know these device but do they have a syslog function? If yes, is there an error logged when the tunnel goes down? If so, then you could use that.

Otherwise run a snmpwalk over the device and see if there's an OID that show the tunnel status.

If there no SNMP oid take a look if there is SNMP trap or/and Syslog event..

I'm using a Log Analyzer rule on the SNMP traps to look for a "Tunnel State is Down" in the trap description where Vendor is "Silver Peak". Then link that to an alert.

TIP: If you want to track for reset of the alert, you will need to also track the varbind for spsActiveAlarmSeverity.1. When down it is "critical" and restored it is "cleared"
