Trap Viewer Email

Using the Trap Viewer I created an alert by right-clicking on the alert and choosing "Add Rule". I then went to Alert Actions and added the send Email Action, and this is the part that is failing. I am not getting any emails, but the trap keeps showing up in the trap viewer every time I test. Any advice as to where to troubleshoot why this isn't working?

Thank you everyone for your assistance. I checked everything you all mentioned and it was setup properly and working for other alerts. It turns out that changing the alert condition from "equals" to "contains" made to alert send the email. The condition was automatically put in when I right-clicked on the SMTP trap, so I figured it would just work without having to fiddle around with it. Thanks again for the help!

The most common reason why email notifications are not received is that the SMTP server has not been configured or has been configured improperly. Your SMTP server may require authentication, or may prevent relying.

In addition to checking your SMTP server settings above, you may need to investigate the IIS SMTP settings. Generally when we run into mail delivery issues it is related to traffic being blocked on the network. Try to telnet to the destination SMTP relay server over port 25. You can also check the mail folder on the Solarwinds server to see what kind of activity is occurring there... You might see Undeliverable Messages that give some indication of what is preventing mail delivery.

Are you able to get any other emails from Solarwinds or it is specific to this alert?
