SAM Issue - Showing an alert for 617% of Licenses in Use

Using SAM 6.9.0 and getting an alert that we are over-licensed on our SAM components that are being monitored.

When we look at our license details we are not monitoring that many components at this time. Thinking this may be a bug but wanted to check.

Has anyone seen this error before?

You're on SAM 6.9.0 so I assume you have component-based licensing, as opposed to the new node-based licensing. Are you running any AppInsight applications? They each consume licenses for 30 to 50 component monitors because they're specially designed for in-depth monitoring. Check out component-based license information in the SAM Licensing Model -- it describes how to verify the number of component monitors being used by various templates.

Ignore it, the way SolarWinds calculates Component usage is bizarre! As long as your licence details page doesn’t show your over the count then don’t panic.

Would you be comfortable sharing your license level, and SAM components used? This would allow us to judge whether what you're seeing is a bug or not.

As cmazko states, some of the application templates consume a large number of components, especially the AppInsight enhanced templates (50 for Exchange and SQL, 30 for IIS, and 60 for AD). If you have a smaller license, you can quite quickly consume your licenses.

how does licensing apply for Appinsight if SAM Node based licensing is in use? We have a requirement for Appinsight for SQL so...

i got my answer on this from support... so if node based licensing is in place then there is no limitation on the count of monitors that can be used...so m good with this...
