I'm looking for a SAM monitor for CRM2011, but can't seem to find one. Would the Dynamics 4.0 monitor be enough or are there enough differences between the two versions where it would not be helpful?
Chris
Hi, I had a quick look on the SAM demo which doesn't allow you to edit the dynamics 4 monitors, but you can go to the monitors page and have a look at what it is monitoring. You should be able to edit the dynamic 4 monitors on your system though. Here the views of the monitor pages when applied, it may help.
This link should take you to the MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 Details view

MS Dynamics 4.0 CRM 4.0 event details view

If the links don't take you to the correct view then open up the Sam demo, click on the Applications tab, then Sam settings then, Manage application monitors.
From there you can find the monitors in the list and click on them to get to the page.
The content exchange pages have those 2 monitors and detailed descriptions of what they monitor:

The posts the monitors were posted to were created in 2012, so not that long ago..
Thanks for the reply. I saw the 2 monitors and had also noticed the dates, but unfortunately, I don't know enough about CRM to know whether or not the 4.0 version monitors would be sufficient or even valid. I'll look a little deeper into the 4.0 monitors, but i'm hoping someone has more experience than I with CRM 2011 and can provide feedack.
As suggested above, I too would recommend you try the Dynamics 4.0 templates first as they may very well work as is. At worst, you may find a few component monitors do not work. If that's the case you can either disabled these components, or use the Component Monitor Wizard in SAM or Perfmon.exe on the Dynamics server to determine what has changed. In some cases certain counters are renamed, removed, or namespaces/categories are changed. In these cases, only a trivial amount of effort is required to update the template to accurately reflect those changes.
In the meantime I've logged a feature request internally under FB279903 to update our Microsoft Dynamics templates to support the 2011 version.
Excellent! Thanks for the feedback and for submitting the feature request.
