Disaster Recovery Scenarios
iunderwo
Guys, I'm wondering if anyone has experience setting up Orion for a disaster recovery scenario and what was done to make it all work pretty. Currently, I'm suspecting that I'll need to at least make sure of the following:
A new system roughly identical to the one I use now for a standby poller.
An expansion of my SQL database to be replicated from my main DB.
Coffee and patience.
I'm interested to hear how anyone else may have tackled this. // Ian Underwood - Network Engineering // Boston Stock Exchange

Good Day
What we have is a server with mirrored hard drives and a backup harddrive total of 4 harddrives in the server. We also run the engineering toolset on our orion server and have some snmp charts that we publish to the orion as well as some custom spreadsheets and such. All this (database, custom properties, chart data, spreadsheets, imported icons etc.)we backup to an off site dual harddrive system. As well we backup all this data to cd or dvd monthly. I have had to rebuild from this in the past and it doesn't take much to get going if all the right data is on hand. We are budgeting for a secondary server for next year as well. A redundant server would be nice but we have to wait til next years budget.
That is what we are doing right now.
