POP3 UE monitor help

I've setup the monitor per the applicaton instructions, but continue to get errors. Any ideas?

The "Credential for Monitoring" is setup for the gmail account we created. I can see emails coming into the GMAIL account with the following in the message body:

This is a message used internally by Solarwinds APM to test the
send and receive ability of a specific POP3 Mail Server. This message
may appear because APM gave up on the server (due to
the probes timeout settings).

APM considered the transaction linked to this message
a failure.

When I originally setup the node, I used "gmail.com" and then applied the template..

any ideas?

Problem solved. I had to direct the test to our IronPort SMTP listeners - not the Exchange server. I also had to create a MAPI profile on the APM server that correlated to a valid user mailbox.

I was able to get past this:

If anyone is interested it was the gmail settings. The Nodes IP address had to be set to the IP of : pop.gmail.com

SSL was needed as well as port 995.

All is good.

I have the same problem and error with this template but am instead targeting our Exchange server. Unfortunately, since I only have the Exchange server in NPM as a ICMP-only node, I can't alter the IP address field to anything other than an ip address - Orion isn't accepting text characters so I can't simply change it to SMTP.OurExchangeServer.OurDomain

Has anyone else seen this or know the fix?

The previous poster wasn't referring to changing the IP address to a DNS name, rather making sure the IP address defined was pointing to the correct location.

Can you telnet to port 110 from your Orion server to the IP address defined in Orion as your Exchange Server? If so what does it return?

Thanks for the clarification. When I attempt to telnet to that port on Exchange from Orion I get the message "Could not open connection to the host, on port 110: Connect failed". For the record, I also get this message when attempting to telnet to the Exchange Hub server as well.
