Monitor Solarwinds

We need a way to monitor our Solarwinds server from an external source. Does anyone have any suggestions? We don't have the website published to the public so we need something that can go through the firewall and let us know the status of the Solarwinds server.

VPN access or publishing the Orion web site as a Terminal Services application are possible.

Depends on what you want to monitor, but how about on the database server itself? I use some SQL Agent jobs for this purpose - see my post here:

There are also some other other timestamps that you might want to get alerts based on when they aren't updated in a while.

Thanks guys. I will look into setting up the SQL Agent to monitor the database itself. I'm still looking for a way to monitor it from outside without publishing the site.
