Where is the daily software asset inventory data being polled from?

Can anyone tell me where SolarWinds pulls the data from for a servers software inventory? Does it look through the files on the server or the registry? We're experiencing instances where a program was removed but days later SW still shows it in the inventory. I understand if a system isn't managed the last data in the database is what goes in the report, but this is happening with online servers with active monitoring.

Any ideas?

I would guess WMI or SNMP depending on which your system is configured to use for a given node...

Actually, I want to know where on a server does SolarWinds check to validate whether a program is installed. I have servers that SolarWinds says has software on it, but it's been removed with a script. Add and remove programs does not show the software and it no longer appears to be "visible" on the server. SolarWinds says otherwise, so is it finding some obscure file somewhere on the server and using that as a determining factor that the software still exists?

This is how they apparently do it but I am having issues with the OID they are referencing that carries this data on SNMP polled nodes. That particular OID is missing a bunch of applications when spot checking a handful of servers I have in monitoring. I opened a case today.
