SQL cluster flip

2005 SQL cluster, a team member just told me that the APM module is not binding to the virtual IP and when they try to move the Solar Winds database to a different server Orion dies and never comes back up. Before we installed APM they could move the database without issue and Orion would never die, any suggestions?

What do you mean "Orion dies"? Does the website stop working? Do the services stop? Are there errors in the Windows Event Log?

Website losses access to the sql, services stay running, event logs in the solarwinds.net section stating that it can no longer reach the sql server. Unable to open the system manager, however I can open the database manager and look at any of the tables.

APM doesn't do anything that would change how System Manager works so the fact that it isn't working makes me think this isn't specifically an APM issue. Maybe in the course of installing APM, you ran the config wizard and pointed it to the actual DB IP rather than the virtual IP?

That's just a guess. You'll probably want to open a support ticket for this one.

That is why I am a little confused, however I never specified the IP or dns when I installed the APM module. I assumed it used the same DB connection that Orion does.
