Looking for a way to grab the size of all databases across environment and chart it by day to show how much space SQL is using.

Hello,

I am looking for a way to create a chart that basically has a query that will grab all database sizes across my environment and list out the total size per day. This is to help the datacenter folks, and my manager know how much space SQL is currently consuming on our SAN. It also lets me project how much more space to ask for after a certain amount of data has been gathered.

Any help would be appreciated. I am not sure if anyone has something like this setup already.

I tried to create simple application template to monitor what you are requesting: SQL Sever Total Storage Template

It uses SQL user experience monitor to query sum size of all database files as:

SELECT SUM(CONVERT(bigint, size)) / 128 SizeInMB FROM sys.master_files
