Hi,
Do you guys know of a way to monitor shared datastores in ESX 4.1? All the templates I've seen so far try to connect to the ESX host and the shared datastores do not show up... Is there a way to get to them thru VCenter? Thanks!
Is image below the information you're trying to see?
This can be seen when you add the vCenter as a VMWare node to NPM or APM. You can also use the Find Processes & Services in APM to list/display all VMWare Performance Counters available through the vCenter or for each individual ESX host.
Thanks for your response. The information you're showing in this screenshot I have already access to. What we're looking to get is the % used space on the datastores that all our ESX servers share as their storage for all the VMs.
The storage information you're after is available from the vCenter. You can use the Find Processes & Services in APM to list/display all VMWare Performance Counters available through the vCenter. Storage datastore information should be listed. You might also want to take a look at our Virtualization Manager solution which does a much better job of visualizing and forecasting datastore information.
Thanks, this is a great way to find a whole bunch of interesting info on ESX, but I don't think that the shared datastore usage is one of them...
