Can I upgrade NPM to 10.6 and continue to run SAM at 5.5.0 without any issues?

Why would you not want all of the awesomeness that is SAM 6.0?
SAM 6 would be required due the Core platform version dependency.
Oh, don't get me wrong I WANT SAM 6.0, I just don't like to update multiple things in a single maintenance window. I was going to do one and then the other a week later. I had a feeling that they would both need to be updated though due to the changes in Core. So is the process still the same in that I should update in the following order...
NPM Platform
NPM Addt'l Poller
NPM Web Server
SAM Platform
SAM Addt'l Poller
SAM Web Server
