Monitor using SNMP

I am new to APM. I have a question.

I have read documentation of APM and according to that, if you want to monitor AD, Exchange , you will need to use WMI.. Make me correct if right..

I want to monitor disk space, CPU etc.. Can I use SNMP for it or I will need to use WMI for that as well.. ??

Is it possible to monitor everything like AD, Disk space etc via SNMP??

Any help would be highly appreciable.

Yes you can use SNMP V1, V2c or V3 to monitor volumes(disk space), CPU, memory, interface statistics. For Active Directory(AD) specifice services and performance counter you would need to use an application template fetching data via WMI or RPC.

tlwoodstx is correct. Much of the information needed to monitor application performance and health simply isn't available via SNMP. In these instances we leverage WMI or RPC. Future releases of APM and NPM will allow you to add Windows nodes natively via WMI without the need to configure/enable SNMP for CPU/Memory/Volumes/etc.
