Tomcat Monitoring

Hi All

I am setting up a template for monitoring tomcat using SAM.

I so see several monitors like Tomcat Free Memory, Tomcat Total Memory etc, each with various notification mechanisms,

I want to configuration an email notification each time Tomcat Free Memory is less than 90%. Since there is no monitor setup to capture% Free Memory, how can I achieve this ?

Can I use custom formula for this ?

That's close. You've got the application down alert. You want the component warning/critical alert.

You should be able to get this information via JMX and the memory MBEAN. The best way to get at that information is by using the Component Monitor Wizard at the top of the SAM settings page to query your system for available JMX monitoring points and build your template that way.

Hi Steven

Thanks for the update. As suggested, I've got all the monitors I was looking for. I have one last question on this topic.

I configured the warning/critical thresholds for the monitors. But I am not recieving any email alerts. I see the relevant monitor changing colour to red when the threshiold is breached. How can I setup email notifications for such monitors.

If you've defined a threshold then the default out-of-the-box Alert "Alert me when a component goes into warning or critical state" should be triggered if enabled.
