Collecting and presenting server properties with Powershell

Hi all,

We have a scenario where we need to collect some information from the registry on all our Windows servers, and present that information together with other general data on the Server Details page.

We have experimented with using the Windows PowerShell Monitor to collect some data from the registry for our servers. It works fine, we query some data and return it in a Statistic Value and Message which are visible in the Components section under the application details page. But as said, our ultimate goal is to be able to present the data we collect on the Server Details page, together with other general statistics and custom properties.

So our question is, how can we present the data we collect from the Application Monitor on our server dashboards? If this is simply not possible, perhaps a report can be created where we can present the information collected for each node?

I wonder if the better way to approach this would be to use the Orion SDK to insert that information from the target nodes registry into node based Custom Properties instead of trying to use the component monitors to do that. As you have discovered the component wants to pull back a numeric value that can work with thresholds and charting. The SDK would allow you to use the scripts that it sounds like you have already created to gather the values and assign them directly to the nodes:

I like jvb's idea of using the Custom Properties and Orion SDK. Since you are collecting the data in Powershell, this would be easy to do. I do this on a couple of things already.

That being said, I display data from Component Statistics on my Dashboard using a Customer Report Widget.

Here is my SWQL:
