Embedding Nagios Elements into Solarwinds

Hi,

does anyone know if it is possible to embed another webpage into the solarwinds portal so that it appears to be a running within solarwinds?

I am trying to have one console possible the solarwinds one which includes output from Nagios.

If it's web-based, you should be able to place a "Custom HTML or Text" resource on the desired view, and wrap your URL inside an inline frame within the resource. Try placing the following into your new "Custom HTML or Text" resource. Just replace URL with your actual URL (inside the quotation marks), and adjust the width and height to your liking.

Also, if you want to place this on a high number of views, you can save a little time by creating your own resource (including the iframe), and place it on each of the views. This will save the time involved in editing the resource on each view to include the HTML (it'll already be there).

Thanks very much that worked well. Just got to find out how I can get it to log the user in automatically.

When you say create your own resource what do you mean exactly.

Can you give me an example.

Rather than adding a "Custom HTML or Text" resource to your view(s), and then editing it to include the code of choice, you can create your own resource that already has the code snip within. This saves some time if you have a significant number of views to which you want to add a particular function, and also acts as a single touch-point if you decide to change the functionality of the resource.

Let's say you have 10 summary views where you would like to apply the same Nagios resource. Rather than adding the "Custom HTML or Text" resource to each of them, then going into each one to add the snip of code, you could just add a custom resource that already has the code within. Also, if you later decide you want to change the resource in some way, you don't have to modify 10 different views; simply make the change to your single custom resource file, and you're done.

The sub-directories containing the various resource files are located in the InetPub\SolarWinds\NetPerfMon\Resources directory. This is where the resources and categories are defined that you see when you are adding a resource from the web site. Here, you can create resources to do anything you'd like, and add them to the website (or modify the canned ones, but remember to make a backup copy first). Also, as of now, these sub-directories contain the majority of the web resources, but in 8.5.1 there are also some resource components in the sub-directories beneath InetPub\SolarWinds\Orion\Resources (this is part of SW effort to convert to ASP.NET).

Attached is a simple resource (with an iframe) that we use to include output from our Netflow Tracker server on our interface details views. You'll notice we have an "IF" statement in there that only allows the resource to be visible on the page if the "IF_Tag" custom property contains a value of either "WAN/NF", or "NF". You may or may not want to include an "IF" on yours. Also, you'll notice we pass login credential in the URL. Hopefully you can do the same.
