Reliability of Orion Graphs VS MRTG
azhar
Hi all,
Any idea, if the SNMP capture on traffic utilisation is as accurate as those or MRTG. Typically I am getting very different result 100M difference in the 2 graphers.
Any patches etc ??
Any assistance is welcome!!!!!

There are a couple of different things that could be causing these differences. First, is the handling of 32-bit counter rollovers. If you open Orion NPM and choose "Advanced Settings" you'll see a tab for configuring the counter rollover options. MRTG uses "Method 1" by default whereas Orion uses "Method 2".
Also, depending upon the device type one of the systems could be using 64-bit counters and the other system could be seeing a high number of rollovers. Within Orion, right-click on the interface and choose "Interface Details". Lower the statistics collection interval for the interface and it should help to remedy the problem.--HTH

Hi,
Can anyone advise how I can get the GRAPHING to sample at faster than the default 30 minutes ie. 5 minutes average.
I have reduce at the node and interface level for minimal time statistical collection but seems that when I but to 5 minutes on the GRAPHING, there are many chop offs.
Any assistance is much appreciated.
Thanks
Regards
