I’m using nested maps for our various data centers and the nodes that are located in them. I’m also setting the maps to show state based on the child maps. However, if I have an application monitor down, the top level map doesn’t change state unless the application monitor itself is on the child map.
This is a little confusing because since an app monitor is assigned to a node, shouldn’t the top level map reflect the state without having to explicitly place the app monitor on the child map? If you have several dozen app monitors on an Exchange server, for example…I’d hate to have to put every single one of them on a child map just to get the top map to reflect any down state for them. But when I’m looking at the node in Orion there is a smaller red circle indicating an app monitor is down, so I’m not sure why the top level map doesn’t reflect anything in this scenario. Hope this makes sense!
