Nodes error Overall hardware status unknown

Since we upgrade to version 6.0.0 some nodes appears in the "nodes with problems" table with the status "Overall Hardware Status 'Overall Hardware Status' has state: Unknown. " The check of the hardware status can not be disabled. How can i get the hardware status for this devices or disable the check? the hardware are routers junipier, switches Cisco and f5 bigIP load balancer

This sounds like an issue with NPM 10.6, not SAM 6.0. SAM does not monitor Hardware Health on routers and switches; only servers. I recommend posting this question in the NPM forum.

Only've installed SAM. Is NPM included? On the node the info is displayed this way

So you don't have a tab labeled "Network" at the top of your Orion web console? When you perform a "List Resources" from the "Node Detail" view of this host is Hardware Health listed as an option for this node?

Nope there isn´t And SAM is able to monitor CPU and RAM usage form this devices by SNMP

Correct. Monitoring of devices (even switches and router) CPU & Memory is a function of Orion Core. This is native functionality with most Orion based products. The fact that you're seeing hardware health appear (albeit broken) for switches & routers with only having SAM installed is likely a bug. I recommend you open a case with support so we can troubleshoot this issue further.

I didn't know it was even possible to install SAM without NPM??? That's a first I've ever seen for that. For nodes I have problems with hardware monitoring I just turn it off in Manage Nodes like you suggested by unchecking Hardware Health Sensors.

I've found that for a few devices I get hardware alerts all day long if I don't turn it off. Don't get me wrong, for the most part, the newer hardware sensor monitoring works pretty well. It just a few devices that end up turning into hardware event storms if I leave it enabled on them.

SAM has been available as standalone product since the APM 4.0.2 release several years back. Just like NPM you can mix and match modules. For instance you can install SAM and WPM together without needing NPM. Each Orion based product is now offered fully standalone. The only notable exception to that rule is NTA.

Anything come of this. I have over 400 Nodes showing an unknown hardware state - and this should not be.

What problem are you seeing? How are the nodes managed in Orion? What hardware vendor are using that is exhibiting issues?

Try testing SNMP from the poller which is polling the devices which is showing as unknown. There's a utility in the SolarWInds folder called 'snmpwalk.exe' (default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion). Run this to check that SNMP traffic is actually getting through to the nodes in question.

silverbacksays‌ - it was a poller issue. for some reason one of the pollers has stopped gathering snmp stats. restart of the services fixed the issue.
