V8 beta feedback
iaminit
how about some feedback from the developers on the questions on V8, considering the production release is coming mid-month. Solarwinds doesn't appear to put a lot of effort into maintaining this forum and giving us insight. Seems as though all their answers are short and unclear.
Solarwinds needs to rememeber a product is only as good as its support, and they need to step it up a bit. "We have been busy" isn't cutting it anymore.

I do agree on that as we are looking to get some answers and if the product is not meeting our expectations and we are not getting the feedback then why do we stay? I know we need to get some more insite on what is coming with this new version? Please if anyone from Solarwinds looks at this please let us know how things are going and what we should expect?

I can't even get it to work on my test server. It installs fine and when I run it I see a quick DOS window and it goes away and that's it.

I'm sorry to say that I have yet to get Custom MIB Polling to work reliably. I was able to get it to function for a day, but something mysterious happened and I'm no longer able to use it. The custom pollers are no longer available on the Orion NPM site, no matter how many times I uninstall the application, re-run through the Configuration Wizard, or delete and re-add the database.
I've been struggling on and off for over a week to get it working and I'm having no luck. I sure hope the production release is easier to use and integrates the custom pollers into the NPM application, as seeing the stats on the website *only* is kind of annoying.
In addition, the alert macros and macro modifiers still don't work, there's no way to unmanage a group of nodes at once, no way to use custom SNMP ports, and a host of other minor issues which need to be fixed before this software is released to the general public.
