Hi
We are using Solarwind APM. Last week we had a server went down for couple of hours and havent seen any down alert for that server. We are new to this tool and couldnt find the exact reason. Pls help us fix this issue.

Ruban,
Is the server being managed for status? Do you have a node down alert that is configured and enabled? This can be found by looking in the Advanced Alert Manager on the server (Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Alerting, Reporting, Mapping).

Thanks for the response. I verified the advanced alert manager. It is configured to alert when the server goes down and the polling is for every 60 seconds. I verified the last polling time and it is the latest one. Still couldnt find the alert.

Are there any timeframes setup for that alert, or is it set to run 24x7? Was the server unmanaged prior to it going offline?
How do you have your alert setup? I know you stated you have it to alert when the server goes down, but can you provide the details on how the alert is setup?
In the advanced alerting, alert settings, what is your "Type of Property to Monitor"? How is the trigger setup? (Example: Node Status is equal to Down)
Like mharvey said, was the node un-managed when it went down?
Do you have an alert trigger action setup for when the trigger condition is met? Is it emailing you, making an entry on the site, etc.?
So it sounds like the alert works for everything except this one server. Check "alert suppressions" to make sure its not being suppressed on this node, or something that is related to this node.
If you could include some snapshots like Jeryn asked, we could better diagnose it.
