SNMP Process monitors showing many false 'down' alerts

We have a monitor which checks for 'w3wp.exe' through SNMP Process Monitor (windows server). There are 2 instances for the same is running in the server with two PIDs. We are getting Process down alerts from this, every now and then. As we have 3 IIS servers, we are getting around 30-35 tickets per day.

Any idea what might be the issue? Even if it was showing 'unknown' it was okay.

The status message should tell us why it is unknown. Then we know the direction to troubleshoot.

However, does you alert trigger when the component "is equal to down" or "Not equal to up"?

It is okay if it is showing 'unkown'. These monitors are shown as down and its creating many unwanted tickets.

Alerting is for down only.

Can you post a screenshot of the Advanced Alert Trigger Condition that is sending the alert? If APM is notifying you that the process is down then it's most likely true to some extent. Also, have you tried monitoring the services using WMI instead of the processes via SNMP? It could be that IIS is recycling the worker processes and this is the reason for the alerts.
