Postgres; Configuration

Trying to configure monitoring for a Postgres DB on a Linux box.

I have done some the steps in ALTeReGo dated 8/29/2011, downloading the POSTgreSQL9 drivers.

having the hba.conf modified. However the DB's do not want to use trust as the configuration.

Do I have finish setting up the Windows OBDC configuration?

What level of DB user is required? currently we have a reviewer? should that work.

Just wondering if there is more configuration information on Thwack regarding this. I do not

have access to the DB.

Also do I have to edit the template and enter the Driver={PostgreSQL Unicode};Server=${IP};Port=5432;DataBase=postgres;

or will it pick it up from the server I am wanting to monitor?

You simply need access permissions to run the queries as defined within the template. These can be granted individually to the table such as "pg_stat_database". Typically a superuser account is required as it's the only out of the box role in PostgreSQL that has sufficient permissions by default.

You will need to update the template to reflect the proper driver if you are not using the Unicode driver. Also note, that if you installed a 64bit ODBC driver you will need to change the "Platform to run polling job on:" under the "Advanced" second of the editor from x86 to x64. This is the most common problem people encounter when trying to setup ODBC monitors. Alternatively you can install the 32bit driver and it will be used by default.
