Hello, my name is Jake Muszynski. I am a Senior System Engineer for Nationwide Children's Hospital. I have been in IT since 2000, I started using SolarWinds products in 2014, and joined THWACK in November of that year.
This is my 3rd THWACKcamp, and my favorite session over the years is 2016’s Making Monitoring a Priority (Outside your team) because I can’t do it alone. I don’t have access to all the systems, I need expertise from other teams, and I need management support to get the time and tools that I need.
I am looking forward to Optimizing Orion on Oct. 18th at 1 pm CT. Scaling up or out is a topic I will need to address in the next year. Orion monitors over 2000 servers and 3500 other networking and network connected devices. We grow about 10% a year. Today I have 2 additional polling engines, but we are heavy SAM users, and that isn’t slowing down, just getting more sophisticated as we add HA to systems and go deeper into applications to get better data. My department has come to expect a stable and responsive Orion installation, and this session will help me do that. Whether I fine tune and balance, or grow my servers up or out, it’s something I need to plan for.
What do you think about when optimizing Orion?
