HTTP/HTTPS Monitor from multiple hosts

Question

HI all,

I want to be able to monitor a web site with the http/https monitor from several servers residing at different physical locations.   The remote hosts are already monitored (agentless) by SAM.  From my test results, they all seem to be running on the Orion server according to the http logs on the website.  I have a URL IP of a remote website and yields the same result.

Is the HTTP / HTTPS Monitor designed to run only from the Orion Server? How would I accomplish this, with these monitors, or some other monitors available out there?

If you're a WPM customer, you could install players on those remote servers. Granted, this is a little more information than just monitoring availability of HTTP/S, but it will give you the desired information, as well as some metrics.

If you have NPM and installed the NetPath agent on a couple of Windows machines, you can create probes for this to get the multi-perspective monitoring. You won't get HTTP Status Code nor HTML response string parsing/evaluation though.

And my most common answer on these forums, you can script it out and use the Windows PowerShell Monitor or Linux/Unix Script Monitor. Something using wget or invoke-webrequest would do.
