Processor Queue Lenght

So i just updated my orion instance so i now have SAM @ 6.9.1 and was looking at the new to me app insight for active directory and i see now that in this view it reports the processor queue lenght on the DC.

This has long been an performance counter that i manually add via a monitor to all my windows servers.

Is this added counter just for the AD app insight module or is it now collected by default for all windows devices? I have alerts that i end up having to run through custom SQL queries to get them to work but if this is now a default collected item in orion this would make things much easier to maintain.

Hi Thomas,

Processor Queue Length is not collected by default on any windows servers. It is included as part of APPInsight for AD and the component is using a Performance Counter Monitor as referenced in the details of the component Observing Processor Queue Length | Microsoft Docs

Tony is right! If you'd like to promote this to functionality that is packaged more easily for your use in the future, I recommend putting a note in Server & Application Monitor Feature Requests and upvoting it.

Hi All,

Old thread, but closest I've found related to Processor Queue Length (Depth). I'm trying to create a SAM Template, and want to add Processor Queue Length to it, but I'm not finding it as a component.

In the "Component Monitor Wizard" I looked through both "Processor" and "Processor Information", but didn't find any counters that seemed to indicate queue length (aside from Deferred Procedure Calls). Where am I supposed to grab it? Is "Processor Queue Length" actually the "Deferred Procedure Calls"?

@Martin_Crothers, I believe Processor Queue Length is found in the "System" performance count sets, one thing you can do because its already defined in a template is copy that component from one template to the other. Here's an article on how to do it.

The Template it is currently located is "Exchange Server 2000 and 2003"
