Alert For When a Instance moves to a different Physical IP

Good afternoon, I'm trying to monitor a SQL Cluster. So I have the following

Cluster IP
Instance IP
Physical IP

So I need to is do I need to add the cluster service to the physical nodes or the cluster node? Should i just monitor the Instance IP with Appinsight for SQL? I just want to be sure I'm notified when the instance has moved to a different IP. Thanks in advance.

If you have SAM in your environment you can use 'Windows Service Component' and monitor the instance on active Physical IP provided the nodes are being monitored using WMI

If you are monitoring your Physical IP using WMI in Solarwinds + you have SAM module installed. You can just get onto this node and on the node view you would find 'service control manager'

Click on that, you should be able to see 'SQL Server (SQLInstance)' - Running on the Service Control Manager Window

Click on this would take you to the next screen , select new template save the template.

That's it job done (create a component alert for the same accordingly), but then this is a trivial way of doing things, yet it would still tell you when a SQL instance moves onto the failover Physical IP.
