ssh login Monitor & Parsing

Hi There,

I have some unix machines. At times the load on the application is so high that it stops responding to ssh based logins. I need to find a way from Solariwnds to monitor this situation such that Solarwinds logins to these servers (on port 22) with valid account....in case if this fails....an alert is fired to the concerned people. Is this possible through Solarwinds. I can do ssh port monitor....but what I need is to detect the ssh login failure situations arising with these servers. Please let me know how it can be done.

Also, apart from the above requirement....I need to find a way for this account to parse certain log files to find out certain errors and alert us when these alerts are found. Please let me know whether it can be done.

Hello Shailesh,
you can  create some simple Linux script that would just return "UP" result and add Linux Script Monitor to APM for that server. This monitor uses SSH to connect to server, upload and execute script. If server is not able to accept SSH logins, monitor fails and you can alert on this.

This is also way to go with your second problem. Create Linux script that would parse required log files and return appropriate status is errors are found. Then just create alerts for this monitor.
