daily down time report

Is there a way to generate a weekly report that will show me on a daily basis the time of day a site went down and came back up?

You can schedule a report to run weekly that will tell you when, over the last seven days, any monitored nodes have gone down, or experienced any other state, as follows:

Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Alerting, Reporting, and Mapping > Report Writer.
Click File > New Report.
Click Event Log, and then click OK.
On the General tab, provide an appropriate Report Title, like DailyDown.
On the Select Fields tab, click Browse (...), and then click Add a new field.
Click the Field asterisk (*), and then select Network Nodes > Node Details > Node ID.
Click Browse (...), and then click Add a new field.
Click the Field asterisk (*), and then select Network Nodes > Node Details > Node Name.
Click Browse (...), and then click Add a new field.
Click the Field asterisk (*), and then select Events > Event Type Name.
Click Browse (...), and then click Add a new field.
Click the Field asterisk (*), and then select Events > Event Time.
For the Event Time field definition, click the sort asterisk (*), and then select ascending.
On the Filter Results tab, click Browse (...), and then click Add a new elementary condition.
Click the first asterisk (*), and then select Events > Event Type.
Click the second asterisk (*), and then select Node Down.
Note: To include additional objects and states, add additional elementary conditions.
On the Time Frame tab, select Relative Time Frame, replace the current value with 7, and then select Days.
On the Report Grouping tab, select Event_Time from the Add New Group field, and then click Add Report Group.
Click File > Save, provide an appropriate file name, and then click Save.
Note: For ease of maintenance, the default save location--your local Reports folder (C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Orion\Reports\)--is strongly recommended.
Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Alerting, Reporting, and Mapping > Orion Report Scheduler.
Click Edit > Add New Job.
Provide an appropriate Job Name, like WeeklyDailyDownReport, and then click Continue.
Click Browse (...) to provide a report link.
Log in to the web console, and then click Reports.
Expand Events.
Right-click the name of the report you just created, and then click Copy Shortcut.
Select the entire Address, and then paste the copied report shortcut.
Click Use Current URL, and then click Continue.
Select Weekly in the Schedule Job field, and then complete the New Job Wizard to configure the remaining options as appropriate to your needs.

When you click Finish, you will have configured a weekly scheduled report providing to-the-minute indications of when monitored devices on your network go down.

thats great, now lets take it a step further. My CIO is requesting a report that gives me the total downtime for each node over the past 7 days.

Did you get anywhere with this? I have the same requirement. I can easily create a report that shows down and up events, but I then have to stick them in a spreadsheet and copy/paste to match the up event to the down event. Over 800 events means this is hurting my brain.

I can find no way to generate a report that shows me a down event that affected a node, alongside the time the node came back up. I don't need to calculate the downtime I suppose, that can be done elsewhere. It's can't be true that I have to continue by copying and pasting cells in excel every month. Say it ain't so!
