How to monitor an Oracle ASM instance?

Hi,

SAM comes with a template to monitor an ASM instance - "Oracle Automatic Storage Management".

Appreciate any feedback on how you are monitoring the availability of ASM instance.

Hi Janene,

Thanks for this link. I did go over this explanation.

ASM does not allow direct connections. I guess this template connects to the underlying database and then issues these SQL statements. In a way, this is indirect monitoring of ASM instance.

I was wondering if there is any way for direct monitoring? Perhaps a shell script that is called by SAM?
