SNMP Trap Viewer / Website Integration

What is the level of integration between the SNMP Trap viewer and the website? It would be nice to be able to see the all the traps on the website, but I cannot find that anywhere. I looked through the alerts and events sections.

You have to setup the trap reciever to send it to syslog, then you would view via the syslog in the web view.

Do you know any ASP? The traps are all stored in the TRAPS and TRAPVARBINDS tables in the DB.

I should have looked further, you can add "Traps Summary" and "Last XX Traps" to a view under the Customize Views admin page.

After adding it to a view (following kbash's advise), I followed a link from the summary and it took me to nms/.../Traps.asp, which is exactly what I wanted. You can view and sort all the traps there. Shouldn't there be a link to nms/.../Traps.asp somewhere on the toolbar? How else would you get to it? Thanks kbash.

You can edit your toolbar and add a link to the Traps.asp page via the Admin link on the toolbar.

Thank you but I already tried that step. I already added a link to the Traps.asp page on the menu bar but it is also showing no traps. Still no options on the Type of Trap field.

Lorkan - If you are not seeing any Traps in Webpage Traps.asp or using Trap Viewer, then maybe orion is simply not receiving traps.

The trap service on Orion is installed by default. To actually send traps to Orion, you need to configure the individual devices to send traps - see the documentation for the particular devices for information about configuring traps.

For example you can configure a Cisco router to send a trap when a link goes down. The Orion trap receiver can send an alert when the trap is received. However, be careful when you configure traps. Some devices can quickly generate thousands of traps and overwhelm the database.
