VMware has changed SNMP in v4. See the below.

Does this explain why Orion is showing my ESX hosts as 'net-snmp' ? And presumably I have to configure the proxy for the VMWARE snmp agent to fix that?
That's exactly why they are showing up as net-snmp. We also investigated making the VMWare mibs available through net-snmp, but VMWare no longer exposes all the data that we need to do our monitoring.
So does that mean we've lost the breakdown of what resources are used by each vm on an ESX server?
I've tried following the instructions in the link posted by mcbridea but no joy :-(
