We upgraded our lab Solarwinds server from v12.5 to v2019.4 last week. The new version replaces the legacy Sylog Viewer and Trap Viewer (Win32) apps with Orion Log Viewer. Concerning this Orion Log Viewer, I would like to know...
- Global Preprocessing and Post Processing rules: When and why would I use either (or both) of those? Also, how are the rules these different from those under the Syslog and Traps folder?
- Import and Export Rules: We have almost 200 rules, when we count those on both of our Solarwinds instances). Unfortunately, the Orion Log Viewer does not allow import rules from the legacy counterparts -- sadly, the developers did not provide this.
So, I was hoping to (1) create new rules in the Orion Log Viewer for our lab Solarwinds server and (2) then export those rules and import them into the production SolarWinds servers. This would be a great time saver...
