Hello there... I am wondering if anyone would spare me the trails and tribulations of having to figure out the best way to manage an on call rotation. It is mon - mon inclusinve, 24x7 (luck us huh )

The majority of SolarWinds users who handle on-call rotation utilize Alert Central (don't worry, it's free). Alternatively some use hosted services like PagerDuty instead.
Alter - Thanks for taking the time to respond to this question. Would you recommend putting AlertCentral on the SAM server or off on another server?
One other question, do I have to use it as a full VM? Can I just get the install packages. This is an issue since we run in MS Azure cloud and I would prefer not to have to build another server.
AlertCentral is a virtual appliance. So, cannot be deployed on your SAM server.
Good rule of thumb: cut back on the beer while on call.
You can take the Hyper-V appliance and move it to Azure, but there is not at this time a package you can install on a Linux box of your own choosing.
