What We Are Working on post IPAM 4.1

As usually, we are already working on more features to ship with IPAM. Here is what we are currently working on post v4.1:

Automatic IPv4 subnet discovery (ARP, routing)
End IP device "fingerprinting" - MAC address vendor identification
DNS mismatch records visualization
automatic PTR & A DNS records pairing on DNS zone detail page
Split-scope improvements - visualization of utilization per each split scope on multiple DHCP servers
IPv6 active polling
UDT IPv6 discovery import
End-IP Device scanning for operating system
Multiple DHCP IP address reservation
SQL 2014 support
Single search field to provide super-fast search across all SolarWinds data and visual correlation with Orion events & alerts. Display number of events / alerts visually over time

PLEASE NOTE: We are working on these items based on this priority order, but this is NOT a commitment that all of these enhancements will make the next release. We are working on a number of other smaller features in parallel. Searching for subnets, there are many times that we need to find a just the subnet or group and not IP addresses for example you know the IP address but you want to find out what group or site it assigned to, you cannot easily do that. IPAM give you a nice way to group subnets and supernets but no way to search to return just the subnets.

With the current IPAM I wish that the Microsoft DHCP scope settings already configured would import into IPAM. Such as for Avaya tagged VLAN settings for phones the HTTP directory.

Is there a link back to the node in NPM yet?

Hi, no there is not as IP address is not = managed node in IPAM, however, you can create custom property type URL and create the link to NPM as customization.

We are working on this on "core" level and want to come with "global search" that will solve this problem (not only for IPAM).

Hi, is it because you outperformed your primary server or because you want to poll subnets that are duplicated or not visible from central IPAM machine?

There is a federal OMB mandate to have IPv6 to the desktop by the end of September of this year. Actual goals vary by agency, I believe, but we're making forward progress in our bureau already.

Already, most agencies are supposed to have basic HTTP servers that don't require authentication talking IPv6.

SolarWinds IPAM really needs to read the neighbors list from ASA in particular for us to manage even our DMZ. For now, we're using IPAM for IPv6 like a spreadsheet - manually entering addresses.

We also need neighbor list ability for Nexus switches, as that's where servers are.

IPAM also needs the ability to export reports to useful formats, such as CSV, for additional processing and charting. What we do now is screen scrape copy/paste to Excel.

Is there some thwack post I can "like" to get this feature faster? We are contemplating rolling back to our previous IPAM solution because we rely on searching subnet description heavily.

is there or will there ever be a integration with InfoBlox only thing keeping us from having this?

Do this by SQL job that checks and creates a table if needed and includes in it your case for which subnet belong to which country-updating your country custom property along the way.

This would survive upgrades by recreating table and applying the internal case logic.
