Best way to get another network monitored..

We have an instance of SW which is on a network management segment which we use to monitor 2 networks. We have a third network which is not accessible from the network the SW server is sitting on (for security reasons), however it is accessible from one of the networks that we can monitor.

My question is what is the best way to monitor this network? We only have 30 systems on this other network to monitor, so I can't justify purchasing another Poller as they are designed for networks with over 8000 nodes (I think) and are priced accordingly. However this would do the trick...

Any suggestions please?

Really, your options are:

• You could poke holes for the monitoring (SNMP on 161; ICMP, etc) and then leverage your current solution.
  
• You could do as you stated and put an additional polling engine on the network segment that needs to be monitored (this will still require you to poke a hole in the firewall for SQL communication)
  
• You could look at something less expensive (like ipMonitor) to monitor on that network.  Realize though that if you choose this option, the data won't be able to be reported in the same database or even the same database platform which will force you to separate these devices from your reporting.
