SQL Server 2005-2008 Performance (SQL) issues

Wonder if someone could possibly assist.  I maybe missing something very simple but here is the issue I am experiencing.

We have numerous SQL servers being monitored by APM and alot seem to have picked up both the (SQL) and (WMI) Application Templates.

But we have a couple of SQL Servers that pick up the (SQL) application template, but states SQL Server returned an error, Login failed for user "domain admin details"

I am able to logon to the problem server(s) with my APM credentials and am also able to succesfully run a wbemtest from my APM server.

Is there something I am missing here?

Hello,

From your description it looks like you use admin account for monitoring SQL template, but you should use account for SQL server.

The "SQL Server 2005-2008 Performance (SQL)" template uses the SQL User Experience monitors (and SELECT commands executed on the target SQL server), so you have to set the credentials for SQL server.

The "SQL Server 2005-2008 Performance (WMI)" template uses Performance Counter monitors, that uses WMI and RPC for getting perf. counters from remote machine. So the administrator account should be used for this template.
