HDD alerting per node

HI,

Is there a way to configure alerting high disk usage for different percentages on different devices without having to list the devices individually in the alert.

for example I want 1 device to alert for disk usage above 90% another above 95% and another 99% and so on for many devices. On a similar note can the warning and critical status of the disk usage also be set on an individual node basis or is that a general configuration setting and if its not a general setting can the alerting be configured to relate to that warning/critical state rather than setting the percentage?

I think the easiest thing to do would be to set a customer property for each level of HDD monitoring. Then create an alarm for each Custom Property. Then just assign the custom property to nodes as needed to assign the correct alert level.

I took the approach of classifying within 4 volume size ranges, and alerting on that criteria.

1.) I created a generic advanced alert to trigger when a fixed disk Windows volume reached 10% available.

2.) I created three True/False custom volume properties:

Volume_Small: Mark "True" for volumes between 100GB and 512GB. Alert will fire on 2% (2GB-10GB free)

Volume_Medium: Mark "True" for volumes between 512GB and 1TB. Alert will fire on 1% (5GB-10GB free)

Volume_Large: Mark "True" for volumes greater than or equal to 1TB. Alert will fire on .5% free. (5GB-10GB free)

3.) I suppress the three volume custom properties when "true" from triggering the alert created in step 1.

When the generic 10% alert would trigger on volumes with considerable free space left (e.g. 10% of 2048GB is 204GB free,) I'd apply the appropriate custom volume property to that particular volume.

Just implemented the other day, keeping my eye on it. Seems to have quieted down the nonsense.

OK thanks to you both, I created a custom property and assigned the % i wanted for drives that different to the default alerting level and then created a custom alert which checked if a device had a value in the custom property then if it had a value check the HDD usage against that value otherwise send an alert as normal. Hopefully this way will be easier to manage so i only have to enter values in to the custom property when the HDD needs to be monitored at a different level to the default otherwise it can be ignored, only time will tell on that but for now at least it works
