Importing Application Templates

I have been able to create a template file that has multiple application templates along with multiple components and am able to import just fine.

However, I was wondering if it were possible to just update/replace existing application templates when doing an import without having to remove the application monitor from a node, which then means reassigning the template.

Currently importing a template file that might have an entry for an existing Application monitor creates another Application Template with (#) after it (example: Test, Test(1), Test(2), etc.).

 

We have an application that our installers would run during an installation that allows them to specify which applications are installed.  Based on those settings we generate a script file containing template information, which we then import using the APM Settings screen.

I've been tasked with trying to automate as much of the installation (setup) for APM/NPM items as possible.

Hello Bill,
unfortunately import operation can't rewrite existing applications. It's intentional. Imagine that you import some template from thwack and this template has the same name as one of your existing templates. If it would just overwrite your template, you can get really unexpected results without even noticing.
