Good Evening,
We have a problem with consult events in Orion website (Very Slowly). We have Orion 9.5 SP3 and monitoring 2000 nodes.
The server is has a 2.00GHz Xeon CPU with 4GB of RAM
Running server 2003 R2 SP2
Saludos
With 8889 Elements, you are at around the Cusp of a Single Poller with Default Polling Intervals.
The Slowest piece of your Setup will be the SQL Server. If you have any modules installed especially NetFlow, it will further tax the SQL Server as well.
Here is our link to the Admin Guide on SQL Recommendations:
SQL Setup
2000 NODES is quite a bit depending on frequency of polling and how many interfaces/volumes, etc...you really need to look at how many pollers are on the device. best thing to look at for this is system manager -> connect to that polling engine and select FILE -> Polling status.
provide screen capture of this if possible.
I also want to say there might have been known issues (9.5 went to SP5) with that version...did you search the forum?
Is SQL on that box as well? what else is running on that box, if anything? Is that the only web server for Orion?
also look at perfmon stats for disk queueing if you are running SQL on that box.
I remember we had a memory leak with NPM 9.5 and win2003, you might want to consider upgrading to the newest version (how many times have I heard that from support, haha).
also, you are running sql on the same server as orion, this is not recommended and might be suitable for a test-environment but definitely not on a production environment.
also, 2GHz might be too little, especially depending on which model it is and how many modules you have running on the server. 4GB ram should be fine.
considering all the factors that have an impact on this, it might not only be one issue.
putting sql on a separate server with lots of ram and high speed HDDs (tuned for high I/O's), upgrading your hardware for your orion server, upgrading the OS to 2008 R2 64bit and to the newest orion versions would probably the best bet :-P
OK im checking your recomendations
I would look at adding an additional poller. You can reach out to your sales rep for more info, pricing etc.
