OK .. I have an odd question. Has anyone thought about or knows of a way to break down link utilization into traffic that is internal to a company and traffic that would be everything else or internet bound? I have a facility that is constantly maxing out their link. We can run utilization reports and see what is a top talker and if it is an internal IP address or an external IP address. I can get the same data looking at a 60 or 90 day time frame. What I am trying to come up with is what percentage over say 60 or 90 days is internal traffic and what would be external traffic. Internal would be traffic to destinations that meet the standards. 192.168.0.0 or 10.0.0.0 or 172.16.0.0 type IP addresses. Everything outside the standards would be classified as external traffic. We are trying to see what would be gained if we off loaded the internet traffic onto a separate internet dedicated link. Does this make up 5% or 50% of the over all traffic over say a 60 or 90 day period. Is there a feature in NPM that I can use to gather this information and just have not found it yet?
Any ideas??
