Services Alert and notification

So I have been asked to Monitor some specific services on some servers by a few different groups - i have created a monitor for the service(s) that they want monitored.

I want to send alerts specifically to these users when they go down now I assume - i just set the alert up for this service specific component only and email out to those specific people or groups .. if my thinking is right

You could create individual alerts based on specific services, but a better more efficient and easier to maintain method would probably be to leverage Custom Properties.

So was thinking this way I always forgot about custom properties -

So I set up the alert like this - created a specific application template called NASM CRM Services which contain the components ( services that are being monitored )

That's probably the simplest/easiest way to create these alerts but if you find you have dozens or more this simply doesn't scale from a management perspective. Leveraging Custom Properties allows you to have a single configured alert route the message to the appropriate person dynamically depending on the node, simply by placing the custom property macro in the email address "To:" or "CC:" fields. The Custom Property value for each node would be the email address of the person or group that's responsible for that server.

do you have a screenshot so I can visually see what you mean if you have one .. as I do use in custom properties an email field but more for information with in the alert but not for alerting perspective ..
