Anyone out there run into the new installer just hanging on the "Install Report" section when doing a hardware check?
Were using the offline installer
Windows Server 2016 Datacenter Edition
I am not even getting that far. My silent install of the offline installer fails with an undefined configuration file error, what switches are you using?
Hi Ryan,
Could I get some diagnostics from you?
I'd love diagnostics from your set up please
My system cannot connect to the internet so getting diagnostics out is very difficult
I have progressed and can get the offlineinstaller to run using a silent.xml but it insists on installing sqlexpress and only NPM not NPM and SAM which is what I need it to do.
I just run the installer against a (vm) server which was under specced and it went past the "Install Report" ok even though the command window showed warnings related to lack of CPU.
It's a choice to install SQL express which is shown on the first screen. It will show a diagram with "lightweight installation" versus "standard". click standard and it won't install SQL express.
Sorry guys, I'm not getting notifications in my email anymore for some reason.
Anyway, we were able to get passed the installer but had to jump through several hoops.
We tried numerous things but not in a very scientific method of us:
Tried disabling symantec but weren't able to due to policies
Installed more memory and upped the CPU on the VM
Disabled UAC
Tried downloading the software again
Created a local non-domain-associated admin account and ran with that which was what did it for us.
But after we were installed there were still a slew of other problems, the solarwinds module service kept stopping, the license manager web site wasnt working.
We had to repair the x86 and x64 c++ redistributables before it would work again which stopped the module service from completely failing without warning.
Did you create a support ticket for this?
We sure did! 1273232
So apparently the new installer doesnt like a local account that is a domain user. We had to use a non-domain local account and it flew right by the hardware diag, barely even noticed it!
However, for additional polling engines or HA installs, this is not the case... go figure!
thanks for letting me know the follow up, very good to know!
