Separate the Polling Engine and the Web Engine

I have seen where you can purchase another web server license, or another polling engine license, but what I want to do is install the polling engine with all of our licensed components on 1 VM and install the web server on another VM. Our DB is already a separate VM. Is this something I can do without paying for the additional web server license as I am not using an additional, but rather just the single separate one?

Unfortunately the Orion web server integrated into the primary polling engine cannot be separated/moved to another server that's not the primary poller. For this you would need to purchase an Additional Web Server license.

How can I determine if this will improve our performance? I can give you specs on what we poll if that would help...

The best way to determine if breaking out the Web Server from the Polling Engine would be to try it out yourself. You can contact Sales for an evaluation license key. The will provide you with a download link and temporary license key. You should be able to get it up and running in under 20 minutes. If you decide not to purchase, simply uninstall.

Do the Additional Web Server support installing in another domain than the NPM server ?

We are looking at doing this very soon, but one thought I had, can you run multiple web servers? Idea is that we all hit the separate web server, but as a backup we will have the other web server....

Yes, you can install an Additional Web Server in a different domain than the Primary Orion Server, provided you aren't using Active Directory authentication to authenticate users to the Orion web console.

I know this is an old thread but I still seems relevant. I believe I am running into the problem you mentioned about AD authentication. We just added an additional web server and the server is in a different AD domain as the Primary Orion Server. for the install and communications between the servers we are useing a service account in the domain of the Primary Orion Server. the auto login works in Internet explorer but the authentication for Chrome and Firefox is not working. Is there a work around?
