More Orion Forums? Vote here!

Hi all- The Orion forum has gotten really big and we are considering breaking it down into a couple of Forums. We have had the request to break down the Orion boards by version 8 and version 9. We have had contrasting requests to break the forum down by topical areas like UNDP Pollers, Maps and Reports, Alerts, Database, etc. We wanted to get everyone's opinion on how we should do this.

I would greatly appreciate a little more organization in the forums. I would highly suggest and agree with breaking the forum into at minimum two sections of V8 and V9. I vote do it.

The search feature on Thwack is not something to write home about. I usually do better trolling through subjects then using the search to find what I want. This is an entire other request. MAKE THE SERACH BETTER.

Hitting search is fine, except if you are looking for something related to a specific version.

Now that there are posts for V6 7, 8 & 9 in the forums, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find info relevant to the version you are using.
Many posts do not specify what version the user is running, hence the request for sub-forums by version (should have started when V8 was introduced).
BTW, I am running both V8.1 and V9.

Excellent Point NG. I was a little trigger happy with my post. I agree that the forum should be broken up by version. I dont know how many thimes I thought I found a resolution to an Orion issue only to read the posted date and its from 2006 regarding Orion v7 and has nothing to do with v9 Sp2.

The last search i did had 600+ pages.. Im not sure how much spare time you have but thats just silly...

A database is a database... If you can search 1 forum you can search 5. How complicated would it be to give the user the option to search multiple forums? I think it makes sense to break the forums down into version and component. I shouldnt be pulling up hits on orion version 7 when im seaching for an issue related to version 9.

Incidently Mark the vote options are too limited for me. I think the forums should be broken down into version and component. Limiting a forum to just version still leaves alot to be desired for somebody looking for a solution with a specific piece of Orion (like i am now).

Making it more granular and enhancing the ability of what forums (version and component) to seach under is the way i would do it. Especially if a member had the wild card option to seach all of lets say v8 or 9 forums and didnt have to click check boxes for say v9 universal poller if they didnt want to.
