virtual interfaces and vlan interfaces Version 9 upgrade issue

I thought this may deserve it's own thread since this is a problem that I am seeing after doing the upgrade.

All of our 6500's firewalls and big IP's are reporting a port speed of 10 MB on virtual interfaces as a default speed. These have never had an issue with prior versions of Orion but since the upgrade I am havig to go through each device and MANUALLY set the interface as a gig port or higher.

Orion start showing over 1000% utilization on some of these interfaces and that is the first time this has ever happened so I am assuming that the upgrade caused this since I can go back in the history of these and see that most of these have never been over 15% utilization in over a year.

There are some devices that we have located in our DC that I do not have access too only monitorin access and I am not sure what the port speed are for these and will have to get other business units involved now since they could be 100 mb or gig or more.

I really wish this wouldn't have happened so much for the painless upgrade.

Yep I have the same problem and most Cisco Vlans at layer 2 are 10 Gig. I also have had issues with changing the custom value back to 10 Gig...sometimes it takes other times it does not

Response in another thread is that they are aware of this and are working on a fix GRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr

I wish this would have been known before I upgraded. FYI This is happening on more then just 6500's I have F5 devices that this is also happening on and some MPR routers.

Once this FIX is released how do we go about changing everything back from manual to automatic for the interface speeds? I don't want to have to go through every interface again.

Was this really beta tested????

You might try running the query below against the database to see if the changes made by the upgrade were captured as events in the events table. If they were then you might have a record of what the original value was before the change.

select * from events

where Message like '%speed changed%'

order by eventtime desc

Actually, the issue I was referring to was present in 8.5 as well. If this is new to you in 9.0, it may be a different issue. Have you opened a ticket?

I have opened a case for this Case #49582

If this was a problem 8.5.1 then why am I and others only having an issue or seeing it after the upgrade happened?

I can only hope that it is fixed now that it has happened.
