What AIX versions are supported by SAM ?
Aix 5.3 / 6.1 / 7x ?
We do not list specific AIX version support as all AIX systems should have SNMP capabilities.
Most users leverage NET-SNMP for AIX rather than IBM's proprietary SNMP daemon. That is because IBM's SNMP implementation does not conform in many instances to the SNMP standard. This simply means that there are some features like Process monitoring via SNMP that simply aren't available when using IBM's SNMP daemon. The guide available at the link below outlines the steps required to get the IBM SNMP Daemon working.

Agreed. We have instances of AIX spanning 5.1 through 7.1 in our lab which we are monitoring without issue. It is always prefered to use NET-SNMP rather than IBM's proprietary SNMP daemon for the reasons sean.martinez referenced above, but that is not a requirement. You simply gain additional information and visibility into the server using NET-SNMP vs. IBM's default SNMP daemon.
