Creating an application template to monitor services via WMI takes several minutes to display the list of running services on the remote server. Just for fun, I wanted to figure out what was going on during this period of waiting, so I took out my trusty sniffer and started capturing the traffic between Orion and the remote server. What I discovered is Orion isn't communicating at all with the remote server until the last few seconds before the list of services are displayed in the web interface. Can anyone please tell me what APM is doing during this time, and why does it take so long?
