Question about reporting

I am looking at some reports and 1 I have is my monthly VM inventory. Some of the data not showing has me wondering why I am not seeing all my data for all server. In the screen shot you can see the 8 in the forth column for the server devsp02. That is processor count. You will see it is not there for the server devsp01. Both are the same except for processor count, and have been up the same amount of time.

But if I go into Node Details I can see how many processors it has.

It is also correct in the solarwinds DB

Why is that data not in the report. This is not the only case I have of this. We have about 250 servers with about 25 - 30 with no CPU info in the report.

Pat,

I just recreated your report on my system. I added the "Processor Count" column to the out of the box "All VMs" Report. The report listed the number of CPUs for VMs hosted by VMware, but not for VMs hosted by Hyper-V. I also downloaded a custom Server Report from thwack with a Processor Count column, and it did the same thing there. I am looking into this now, and asked the same question to the person that created the custom Server Report. I should have a response soon.

Try this custom SQL Query to see if it returns the number of processors for the VMs your current report is missing. It is a Query that will report on ALL devices you have in SolarWinds, and it was able to return the number of cores for our Hyper-V and VMware VMs. I am not a SQL Guru, but if this works and returns what you need for your VMs, I can get it customized to only report on your VM machines. Copy and Paste the SQL Query Report into a new custom table report. If you need help with that let me know. Click on Create New Report in the manage reports view in your web console. Choose Custom Table, and under Selection Method: dropdown, choose Advanced Database Query and paste the query. Click on Add to Layout, and then all you have to do is insert the two columns(caption and column1(which you can rename)).
